Inspired by the living space for women in the fifth courtyard of the Lin Family Gongbao House in Wufeng, the painting depicts the spatial limitations and sensory shielding experienced by women in history.

In that era, women waiting to be married were not allowed to be seen by outsiders. Even when watching a play or going on a blind date, they could only peek through the cracks and perceive the world through sound. The crack in the center of the painting, made of gold foil, is the boundary between the inside and the outside, and also a window of light to the world.

The century-old osmanthus in the crack has become an extension of perception, expressing the imagination and projection of the inside to the outside world.

Inspired by the image of the peony in the "Big Flower Hall" of the Lin Family Gongbao Mansion in Wufeng, the peony has symbolized wealth and prosperity since ancient times. Whether in traditional or modern society, the yearning for "wealth" always carries positive expectations.

The peony in the center of the picture slowly blooms with layers of petals stacked in a sustainable velvet flower craft; the center of the flower is embedded with red and yellow agate, symbolizing the cohesion of energy and vitality.

In the contrast of copper light and black, the peony has both outward prosperity and inward stability.

In the fourth space of Wufeng Lin Family Gongbao House, clusters of periwinkle sprouted in the empty space that had originally disappeared.

Without artificial care or deliberate arrangement, it grows naturally in the gaps left by the building, forming a contrast between a strong sense of existence and a sense of spatial loss.

The vitality of periwinkle is extremely strong, and its "wild" state breaks the order of human control, showing a distinct conflict and poetry in the disappearing traces of historical space.

In an inconspicuous corner of the park, I found a bunch of naturally growing lucky clover.

It is not a landscape that is specially taken care of in the park, but a life that naturally emerges in a tiny gap. In the daily observation path of "One Scene One Mirror", such pictures have become the objects of my frequent gaze during my stay in the village.

Lucky clover carries the "search" in our common cultural memory: the expectation and surprise of finding four leaves is like finding a small but real sense of happiness in life.

When you see the bamboo cypress in the park, you will be greeted by its stable and light temperament.

In traditional meaning, bamboo cypress symbolizes longevity, prosperity, health, avoiding evil, attracting wealth, and improving fortune, carrying a complete auspicious symbol. The low-key embellishment of slender matte leaves and matte white fruits presents a simple and unpretentious presence under the tall tree.

Unlike the common strong flowers, bamboo cypress stands quietly, stabilizing the atmosphere of the entire space.

It is often seen in potted plants in our daily lives, which makes me feel a low-key familiarity with it. The small white flowers exude a refreshing fragrance, and the dark green matte leaves and straight branches are faintly smelled even if I can't see them. Its subtle and non-noisy presence in the environment often makes me smile knowingly.

Osmanthus is a kind of hidden beauty in the environment, slowing down the chaotic and noisy fast life by feeling the tiny details in life.

Red milkweed grows tenaciously from the cracks in the cement of the parking lot. Even though it is crushed by car wheels, exposed to wind, sun and rain, it still survives brilliantly and blooms in this challenging environment. Its existence itself is a display of victory over adversity.

The decaying green leaves next to the parking lot have a hint of red at the end. The contrasting visual effect attracted me. The gradient of color is very elegant. I realized that decay is not a simple linear end, but a cycle of life, suggesting the delicate balance between decay and growth in nature.

"Leaf End" captures the passage of time and inevitable change, the fleeting but profound beauty in the natural process of time, perceives the cycle of life, and understands the performance of time, change and existence.

The fern grows in the flat space of the wall, with its leaves emerging from the cracks, showing the power and changes of life in space. This light posture contrasts with the hard cement bricks on the wall, and her calmness suggests that even in a restrictive environment, the rhythm of life can still be maintained.

"Phoenix Tail Fern" focuses on the sense of power that emerges from the cracks. Everything in the environment is like a mirror, reflecting the limitations and resources of nature, allowing the viewer to reflect on the turbulence between them.

Balance in contradiction | Implications of objects

The Chinese Horseshoe, as a small potted plant standing in front of the parking garage, carries the task of reminding people not to park. Although it is used to maintain order, its cute, heart-shaped appearance forms a strong contrast with the intimidating red "Do Not Park" words, creating a contrasting mirror image between the object's suggestion and function.

From the perspective of "one scene, one mirror", potted plants are functional existences that imply the boundaries of private space. However, the green potted plants stand guard with a soft posture, reflecting the ordinary things in the environment, which all contain subtle tension and social functional implications.

Memories of the festival | Sweet harmony

Kumquats are the most simple food in our family during the Chinese New Year. Grandma picks the fruits she grows herself and puts them in a candy bowl. The sweet taste of kumquats washes away the heavy feeling of the rich flavors during the Chinese New Year. The difference in taste brings a sense of comfort and memory, and it has become a family tradition during every festival.

Kumquat showcases the relationship between nature, memory and family. Its sweetness harmonizes with the bustling New Year festival and records the flow of time and emotions from a leisurely perspective.

Hibiscus is a common potted plant on street corners. It may seem ordinary, but it triggers memories of taking care of it in my childhood. It is a private interweaving of time and space that instantly pulls me out of my current environment and brings me back to the memories of my childhood when I started to grow hibiscus because I was learning how to press flowers.

This instantaneous feeling is a mirror image of time and space. Hibiscus grows in the current environment, but reflects personal life experience and emotional memory. "Hibiscus" is not only a faithful presentation of the plant itself, but also contains bits and pieces of personal childhood.

"Standing 2023" is composed of ground-toed branches and velvet-crafted butterflies. "Standing" combines nature with the human seat, allowing the branches and butterflies to dialogue, nature and people to interact, and the space and the work to flow.

"Relationship with the Flow 2024" is inspired by the virtual and real influence of "waiting" and begins to pay attention to the posture of the branches on the ground. Even if the branches do not change, various changes can still be made from them. The butterfly flies up and down, sometimes forward and sometimes left. "Waiting" pauses time, but "Relationship with the Flow" expands the time axis and increases the interaction of time.

Leaves | Fallen leaves on the park pavement show their vitality. Picking up fallen leaves and stacking them up makes the branches seem complete. The branches also seem to become a different nature.

Bonsai | The bonsai in the garden are sculptures. Life is a symbiotic growth, assisted by the natural image shaped by concepts. Here, bonsai is the theme. Artificial methods are added with natural elements to imitate the natural style.
